Rep Republic Apply Now: Student Roles at The Republic

Deadline: 25 July 2021

The Republic is hiring a paid student ambassador and a paid student contributor to support our Lagos team’s student-focused projects.

Responsibilities for the student ambassador role will include growing awareness of The Republic at your university by assisting with The Republic events, networking with other students, and liaising with university administration and/or libraries to circulate The Republic.

Responsibilities for the student contributor role include developing and editing essays for our student-focused newsletter. Both roles are currently open to only our student subscribers based in Lagos (with plans to extend to other cities soon).

These highly competitive positions are aimed at students of all levels (undergrad and postgrad) who:

are current student subscribers of The Republic;
are frequent readers of The Republic;
⎈ are sharp and analytical;
⎈ thrive in a fast-paced environment;
⎈ are highly professional;
⎈ have demonstrable online and offline networking skills;
⎈ are able to work remotely and independently while part of a team; and
⎈ possess excellent communication and research skills.

Familiarity with Mailchimp, WordPress, productivity tools such as Slack and Notion, and social media tools like TweetdeckBuffer and Later are a big plus. While some media experience is great, you may find we operate quite differently.

 Please note: we do not expect you to have all these skills or meet all our requirements. It is more important to us that you are willing to learn.

To apply, you will need to register or log-in. Select the role you’re applying for, then upload a CV and cover letter (stating your availability i.e. when you can start and for how long). Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide a writing sample, demonstrate knowledge of The Republic and our core topic areas, and to attend a face-to-face interview.

Applications close 23:59 (WAT), 25th July 2021, but apply early as we aim to fill the role before then.

This is a challenging but rewarding part-time internship position open only to our student subscribers based in Lagos. Our ideal candidate will work for up to 20 hours weekly, can start as soon as possible, and is able to commit to working with us for 6-12 months

To submit to The Republic, you must be logged in. Don't have an account? Register.
