Young, Gifted and Nigerian? We'd Like to Hear from You

The Republic’s mission is to create knowledge not only on topics crucial to Nigeria and the broader African continent, but also in ways that prioritize the people that need this knowledge the most: young Africans. Knowledge, we know, does not exist in a vacuum but within broader politics about what ideas are public, and who can access or contribute to such ideas. Knowledge creation, as a result, consists of both inspiring new ideas and making new and existing ideas more accessible.

On these pages, we’ve had scholars, distinguished professors, policymakers, thought and business leaders: explain how feminism is African; argue for why we need to rethink migration and globalization; and explore why climate change is important. We’ve learnt that it possible to fight corruption, and that young people can, when organized, make lasting political impacts. Now we want to bring this knowledge plus more closer to the ground—and we need your help.

Our ask is simple:

Are you currently studying at a Nigerian university? Would you be interested in a free annual subscription (print and/or digital) to The Republic and up to two other international publications for the duration of your programme, if all you had to do was maintain a 2.1 degree classification or above?

OR

Are you a recent top graduate based in Nigeria? Would you be interested in a free annual subscription (print and/or digital) to The Republic and up to two other international publications, for a period of no more than 3 years, if all you had to provide was proof that you graduated with a 2.1 or first class degree?

If your answer is yes, please signify interest by filling out the form below.

In each case, we would require your transcript and/or CV to enable us verify your grades and who you are, and potentially assist us in tailoring content to your interests. Such information will not be shared with third-parties. However, for more details, please contact us at [email protected] and/or read our privacy policy.
