Description
Following a long history of demands from African activists, artists, governments and scholars, the West appears to be changing its position towards repatriating looted African artefacts. In a sprawling 80 pages, our final issue of 2022 includes Ore Ogunbiyi on the recovery of Benin Bronze cockerel, ‘Okukor’, from Cambridge University, Desola Olaleye with an existential argument for the repatriation of artefacts and Aby L. Sène warning against ‘wildlife republics’. This issue also features essays and interviews by Alayo Akinkugbe, Ade Daramy, Charles Ebikeme, Victor Ehikhamenor, Mumbi Kanyogo, Kai Mora, Chika Okeke-Agulu, Olasubomi Olumofin, Nengi Omuku, Vanessa Nakate and Ernest Nweke.
