Call for Business Interns Join The Republic as a Business Intern

The Republic is hiring a paid business intern to join our Lagos-based commercial team. For 6 months, this intern will rotate across our commercial and distribution team building experience in procurement, sales and account management. This intern will support the development, sale and distribution of The Republic magazines and other merchandise, subscriptions and wider corporate services to companies as well as schools and universities.

This highly competitive internship position is aimed at students in their final year of university or who have just graduated within the last year. Our ideal candidate:

is a frequent reader of The Republic;

has top-tier academic credentials (Republic team members have typically graduated top of their class.);

has knowledge of and passion for African history;

is a sharp, analytical writer (editorial or research experience is a plus);

thrives in a fast-paced environment;

⎈ is highly professional;

⎈ has demonstrable online and offline networking skills;

is able to work remotely and independently while part of a team;

possesses excellent communication skills;

has interest in writing on a variety of history-related topics, especially African and Black history;

Prior experience writing for a news site helps, as do copyediting skills. You should be a voracious reader who is self-motivated and eager to learn;

has an outgoing personality with the ability to talk to people you do not know;

has outstanding customer service skills; and

Some experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.
