Who we’re looking for
At The Republic, everything is political. A Republic editor is keen and highly professional, with a progressive and independent mindset. You know the difference between a topic and a story and can guide a writer in their reporting to bring out the most compelling characters and story elements. You are skilled at structuring both short and longform narratives for maximum impact. You are a deft line editor with a love of elegant writing and zero tolerance for jargon. You will work with Republic editors, writers and freelancers, and you should be someone who derives joy from helping talented writers grow. You should be good at delivering clear, thorough, and empathetic feedback, be a font of ideas, and come with a roster of diverse and talented freelance writers you might commission.
You will need to register or log-in. Then, upload a CV and cover letter (stating your availability i.e. when you can start and for how long). Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a round of assessments, after which they may be invited for an interview.
Applications close 23:59 (WAT), 30 September 2022, but apply early as we aim to fill the position before then.
This position is open to only candidates based in Lagos. Remuneration for this role is a N450,000-N600,000 monthly gross salary (inclusive of benefits), depending on skills and qualifications.
